Padding is read with a depth gauge on an uncompressed pair at two fixed points: the centre of the ball of the foot and the centre of the heel seat. Flex angle is the angle the forefoot reaches when the sole is bent by hand against a held heel and kept there for three seconds. Both are averaged over three pairs in size EU 38 and rounded to the nearest whole unit. The full method.

The Mary Jane Flat with the padding stack raised to 12 mm at the forefoot and 16 mm at the heel. Flex drops two degrees to 30.

The strap sits 4 mm further back on the instep than on the Flat, because the raised footbed moves the instep point back with it.

Care

Wipe with a dry cloth after wear. Use a neutral leather cream every eight to ten wears and let it absorb for twenty minutes before buffing. Dry away from direct heat. Full care guide.
