Padding is read with a depth gauge on an uncompressed pair at two fixed points: the centre of the ball of the foot and the centre of the heel seat. Flex angle is the angle the forefoot reaches when the sole is bent by hand against a held heel and kept there for three seconds. Both are averaged over three pairs in size EU 38 and rounded to the nearest whole unit. The full method.

Try them on carpet indoors. A pair with outdoor wear on the sole cannot be returned. This does not affect your legal guarantee if the pair turns out to be faulty.

What this pair is

The least material we put between a foot and the ground: 5 mm under the ball of the foot, 8 mm under the heel, an 8 mm heel height, and 45 degrees of forefoot flex.

A higher flex angle means the sole bends more easily with your foot. A lower angle means more material stays flat underfoot but the roll through the step is less natural. At 45 degrees this pair folds almost completely.

If you spend most of the day standing, the comparison table will not return this pair under the eight-hour filter. That is a consequence of its 5 mm reading, not a judgement about it.

Break-in

One to three wears. There is very little material to soften.

Care

Wipe with a dry cloth after wear. Use a neutral leather cream every eight to ten wears and let it absorb for twenty minutes before buffing. Dry away from direct heat. Full care guide.

Origin

The country of manufacture is printed on the label inside the left shoe and on the box. We make no origin claim in our product copy.

Materials, in the statutory form

Footwear materials label as required by Directive 94/11/EC. Each row names the material that makes up at least 80 per cent of that part; where no single material reaches 80 per cent, the two main materials are named.
