Padding is read with a depth gauge on an uncompressed pair at two fixed points: the centre of the ball of the foot and the centre of the heel seat. Flex angle is the angle the forefoot reaches when the sole is bent by hand against a held heel and kept there for three seconds. Both are averaged over three pairs in size EU 38 and rounded to the nearest whole unit. The full method.

What this pair is

The Loafer Cushioned construction with a brushed suede upper. Padding, flex and heel height are identical: 12 mm forefoot, 18 mm heel, 30 degrees, 22 mm heel height.

Suede takes the shape of the instep sooner than smooth leather because the fibre structure is looser. It also marks more easily, and it is not treated for water resistance.

The nap direction is set toe-to-heel so brushing runs one way.

Break-in

Two to four wears. Suede softens faster than smooth leather on the same last.

Care

Brush along the nap with a crepe brush after wear. Lift marks with a suede eraser, never with water. Dry away from direct heat. Full care guide.
